VAN BUUREN HOUSE

The most memorable part of my Belgium trip,
was visiting the Van Buuren House in Brussels.
Purchased in 1928, the home was made into a "living academy"
of rare art deco furniture, carpets,
stained-glass windows, sculptures and international masterpieces.
The gardens that surround the house are just as incredible.
The home was turned into a museum in 1975 after Alice's death.

Images my own, a couple from the site.

MALIBU LIVING

We are East Coast girls...
Born and raised in CT, living in Brooklyn, full of Yankee pride.
After spending some time in LA/Palm Springs, I was ready for my NY...
until we visited Monte Nido.
A horse-loving community set deep in the Malibu canyons,
it seemed too good to be true. (which it was, because we had to leave the next day)
thanks Deb and Phil for the most beautiful stay.

In Love with Maine

Our first summer in Maine was a disaster. We were 2 years old. Sara was sick and our parents found Karen hiding in the fireplace. Fortunately, they didn't give up on making this our summer destination. For the next 14+ years, we would spend weeks on Fortunes Rocks Beach boogie boarding, making sand dripping castles, seed bead and fimo jewelry, eating our grandma's delicious sandwiches, and watching rented movies at night. Going back as adults is a bit different, but nostalgia at its best.

More to come of when Hurricane Irene hit, power outage fun...and more food and shopping. (DUH)
Thanks Aunt Shelley for letting us enjoy your summer home for the past several years. We love you!
