Abandoned Theaters

In the early 20th century, following the development of the entertainment industry,
hundreds of auditoriums were built in North America.
Major entertainment firms and studios commissioned specialized architects
to build grandiose and extravagant theaters.

From the 60's, TV, multiplexes and urban crisis made them becoming obsolete.

During the following decades, when they were not modernized or transformed into adult cinemas,
they closed one after the other and many of them were simply demolished.
Now, many are reused as churches, retail, flea markets, bingo halls, discos, supermarkets or warehouses.

Some others just sit abandoned.

i hate you, i love you

we love how women can be so dramatic at times. strong, and dramatic. a bit crazy, but still all for good reason...we hope. except for those crazy girls who ruin it for the rest of us. this doesn't apply to them.

this scene from two for the road, 1967, says it all

Merry Christmas! Sara sent this to me last night and it brings back such memories!
I remember loving the scene when the doll is in her closet picking out an outfit. Big surprise there!

Be Still

Sara has shared some things  from Nowness in the past. Now it's my turn! Here are some screen shots from the short French film, Time Doesn't Stand Still.  Aside from the beautiful Ralph Lauren wardrobe,  it really is quite a stunning piece.  I'm looking forward to seeing the film in it's entirety next year, but in the meantime, I need to see Black Swan!

Our City Dreams

Sara and I watched this film yesterday on the Sundance channel and were immediately inspired. "Our City Lights" visits the spaces and lives of five female artists living in New York City spanning from different decades and cultures. I especially loved the segment on Kiki Smith she is just too cool.

Gobble Gobble!!

Happy (almost) Thanksgiving! We will be going home to our parents' house in CT to celebrate the holiday! One of the many things we are thankful for this year, is you! Seeing who's stopping by our page (whether intentionally or not!) truly brightens our days.  Although we don't get THAT many comments ;) the ones we do get really warm our hearts...even those "anonymous" ones from you Mom and M. Thank you all for inspiring us every day to keep sharing things we love!!
