Romare Bearden born in North Carolina, lived most of his life in NYC.

Celebrated humanist, intellect, artist, musician.

Inspired by Cezanne, Matisse and Picasso...african textiles, japanese prints, chinese landscapes...

Love his depcition of patterns and textiles.

Friends included James Baldwin, Duke Ellington, Joan Miro, Alvin Ailey...

Swedish Physician and Scientist Carl Curman's Photographs

Most of these photos (found on flickr) were taken in Stockholm and on the west coast in Lysekil where Curman (1833-1913) spent many years. Photos from other Swedish towns and landscapes, portraits of the fisherman population in Bohuslän, family, friends, and social events are included above.
