Hunt Slonem Home Part II

"Lakeside" 1832 rural Louisiana plantation home

"I could eat the dirt here. I just feel connected here. I love the moss and oak and camellias. It’s my idea of beauty on earth. I don’t think it gets any prettier than this on the planet.” -H. Slonem

Hunt Slonem

I first came across Hunt Slonem in a L'uomo Vogue shoot of artists in their homes. He looked so intriguing I googled him and couldn't believe what I found. Below are images from his 40,000-square-foot, 87-room studio on 10th Street in Manhattan. Each room has been painted a different vibrant color-he prefers to see his paintings against bright hues rather than museum-standard white. His many parrots fly free from place to place as they see fit, while his cats roam the studio. Slonem says he's shared his studio with monkeys, turtles, hedge hogs, a leopard and an armadillo. It is said, walking through each room is like walking through a painting. Slonem appears to dress in similar colors. To get a better idea of how much of a character he is, watch the Style.com video on him.
